Snowboarding

This winter, I finally mustered up the courage to begin snowboarding and it is one of the greatest decisions I have ever made! Of course I bought myself a roxy board - its a beautiful Sugar 147cm board, with Ride bindings, and Slalom boots.

Nothing like a camera phone picture to capture the moment of my first strap in.

Ill keep you up-to-date with any future snowy adventures but im not going pro any time soon.

Why Roxy?

Sitting down to think about it, I really asked myself - Why Roxy?

Why do I wear Roxy? Why do I draw Roxy'esk' pictures with hibiscus flowers, tribal marks and beautiful lines? Why does my car advertise Roxy? Why am I head over heals?

Well I guess the answer is simple.  To me, there is something powerful about the brand.  Something beautiful and elegant about it - that just captivates me.  Roxy is more then a brand name, a clothing line, a ski/board company, or a surf giant.  Roxy is a lifestyle.  For strong, beautiful women - all their own, who take the world by storm.  

Ever since I was in the third grade, the name has attracted me.  As a youngster, I was slightly tom-boyish and I initially liked the boys Quiksilver shirts.  Thanks to the hand-me-downs, I became familiar with the brand, and I guess its just history from there on.  Its strange how some things never change.

Check out my new car- Its hard to see but the windshield has a Roxy Heart with tribal marks and I did the door panels myself and put hibiscus at the corners.  This car is me.

Its really a work in process, and I just finished its basics but I see big things in its future. My plans for it are to expand it with time, profile a handful of individuals-but for now this is a start. Surf over to the site-it looks best in Firefox and Safari but it will open in internet explorer.

2009 - Meet *Sarah Burke*

Meet Sarah Burke. This blonde beauty skis for the Roxy team professionally, and my is she good. Burke has taken the snow by storm and left her competition in the powder for the past year. First place has been awarded to her in 2008 in FIS World Cup (Halfpipe), XGames 12 (Superpipe), the Japan World Cup, 48 Straight, and The World Ski Invitational (Superpipe).

In 2007, Burke took 1st in the Winter X Games Half Pipe, 1st in the Nippon Open Slopestyle, 1st in the WSI pipe, 2nd in the Nippon Open Half Pipe, and won the ESPY for Best female action sports athlete. Burke is no stranger to being Number 1, and the 25-year-old rider doesnt look to be letting up! Becuase of her acompishments this past year, Sarah was honored by being named one of the most influential skiers in the past 35 years by Powder Magazine in 2007.
Burke also is the first skier to EVER win the ESPY award-“Female Action Sports Athlete of the Year.”

What a role model. She is bold, georgous, daring, and athletic-this great mix of qualities make up a dynamic individual that girls and women across the globe can look up to!
